Burger Odyssey – Part 2

Posted by pwp on May 23, 2011

Here are some of my favorite photos from the Burger Odyssey (part 2) which started in Ann Arbor and ended in Ypsilanti. Make sure to check out Part 1 too.

The 1st stop was at Blimpy Burger, a classic burger joint in AA. They definitely have good burgers with some fresh beef ground on-site. Their attitude is something else… Some compare them to the “Soup Nazi” in Seinfeld. I realize that this attitude somewhat defines them but I personally think that they go too far. Not sure why not saying ‘hi’ or anything like that to their customers is expected from their staff. Next we went to Quickie Burger with the flashy logo (see below). This place looks great for watching live football games because they have an outdoor flat screen. The burgers were rather “average” though. Then we drove to Fraser’s Pub, another classic local place in AA. Here the ambiance and friendliness of the staff was very welcoming in contrast to Blimpy. It did take some time to get our food, but the burgers were really tasty with the meat being quite rare compared to the other places. Then we headed for Sidetrack in Depot Town, the historic district of Ypsilanti. The place was packed, especially because of the warmer weather. This is really a cool place to hang out, right next to the rail tracks. We enjoyed the burgers there too. Finally we ended the odyssey at the Corner Brewery, which is located in a really interesting building (lots of space) and with a beer garden. I really liked the garden for the warm summer nights. This time we were welcome by the rain. But we managed to stay somewhat dry on one of the few tables with a big umbrella. Burgers there were nothing to write home about, which is ok for a place specialized in beers.

Bon Appetit!
