A year after their engagement session, the Big day finally arrived! This was a pretty chilly Fall day but at least with no rain… The ceremony took place in this beautiful church in Ann Arbor called Bethlehem United Church. The stained glass windows were just fantastic! Then we took a stroll on Main Street to cool down a bit… It was just so great to have the people passing by congratulate our newlywed!
Here are a few of my favorite images:

Simply gorgeous!

Priceless moment between Mum and Daughter….

Playing the Stars on Main Street!

And let’s end with a kiss in the photo booth… I love it!

This morning almost felt like waking up after a dream… and not a bad one… After following Jasmine Star’s incredible pursuit to happiness, which made her one of the top wedding photographers in the blink of an eye, I got to finally meet her not in California but right here in Michigan! She gave a truly fantastic talk at the University Club in Lansing hosted by MTPPA. Her honesty and love of sharing her amazing experience made that night so special. Jasmine, you are such an inspiration to all of us to do what we love at 110%.
There is so much more to say about this… but for now, here are a few P&S photos…

Christine had baked some delicious madeleines (yes I did try a few extra ones!) and even used some jasmine flavor for the occasion!

I just love photographying weddings. Even though it’s quite a bit of work “behind the scenes” (on the wedding day and for the editing), discovering beautiful images which trigger the feeling of a particular moment on that day makes it all worthwhile!
This time I could not be happier since I photographed my two friends Rafael and Gina. Rafael is from Peru and Gina from Venezuela. The ceremony took place at St Mary’s Church in Ann Arbor. As you may remember, I shot a portrait of them a while ago at the Nichols Arboretum in Ann Arbor. Those guys are madly in love! Christine and I are so happy for them.
Here are some of my favorite moments:
Admire the super-elegant invitation with the amazing details… and look at this gorgeous dress! I also love the rich and warm colors of your bouquet Gina…

They wrote the title of this movie “P.S. I love You”… Aren’t they amazing! And here is Gina ready to step out from her “single-girl” bedroom and become Rafael’s wife!

You two just look too good!

Rafael and Gina becoming One…

This image makes me smile… and very happy.

On their way to their new life together!

Going to the reception… She looks happy!

Their grand entrance! FELICIDADES!

Their First dance… and not the last of the night! These guys LOVE to dance! We love latin music too so this was perfect! Just a little hard to choose between dancing or taking photos…

Gina, showing off her flamenco moves… Ole!

Gina’s Dad prepared most of the delicious food including this really fantastic Ceviche. Look at these cool shells too!
Check out this site for some recipes… (this feels like being Holybasil….)

Somehow I was able to get them to stop dancing for a minute to catch the last few minutes of daylight… so worth it!

I was so excited to photograph April & Tom’s wedding, after the great time we had at their E_session last year. Wow time flies! Also they had planned to go to downtown Detroit at a couple of cool locations (yes Detroit is not as bad as people think – I’ll write a post about this some time). One was right on the Detroit River right next to the GM towers and a really fun carousel! The other place was nothing less than the Tigers stadium! And a game was going on at the same time, so it was just so cool to hear the crowd applauding every so often. It felt like they were doing it for April and Tom (which they did, of course!).
The reception was held at the Partridge Creek in Clinton Township, which is right next to a small lake and some beautiful surroundings.
Here are some of my favorites images…
Let me first start by saying, if I may, that April, you have amazing legs… Actually my wife, Christine, told me to tell you that! And for those of you who are wondering, they have not been photoshoped at all!
It was great to have all your bridesmaids to help you get dressed.

And here is the end result!

I love this one!

I love catching these moments…

Let’s celebrate!

Having your own Carousel at your wedding is not a bad thing!

I love the photo-journalistic style on this one… As you can see, we had a few clouds and some wind but no rain!

Here is the wedding party at the Tigers Stadium!

In the middle of the famous Woodward avenue in Detroit! Don’t they look like movie stars!

Great details taken by Christine…

What a Grand entrance!

After the memorable engagement session we did a few weeks ago, I was looking forward to photographing Krista and Christian’s wedding. They have a really amazing engagement story which took place in a museum. They had made a beautiful painting of the proposal moment, as you will see later on.
Thanks to Nate and Natalie who helped me photograph their big day!
But first let’s start with this gorgeous dress…

Time to put the dress on…
The Flower girls agree… You look amazing!

Meanwhile the guys were practicing their “sopranos” pose… just for a moment, though…

Trying to get to the Limo through a tornado of bubbles!

Mr. and Mrs!… at the reception held at the Four Points hotel in Ann Arbor

I just love the feeling of this one…

Here is the painting!

And the First dance…

This was a fantastic summer evening and what better location for an engagement session than the beautiful nature settings of the County Farm Park in Ann Arbor. This is a great park to take a walk or run on the hilly trails. I wanted to shoot there for a long time and I am so happy that the weather was so perfect on that day. Christian and Krista are about to get married (a couple of weeks) and I am so excited to photograph their wedding! We had so much fun, especially with the rabbits, as you will see in a minute.
Let’s start with a few hanging out on the grass..

More grass…

Amazing evening light!

Here is the unexpected guest… I wonder whether he will show up at the wedding…

In the Sun…

So in Love…

I was quite (very) excited for this 1st wedding of 2009. We had another great year last year and I could not wait to photograph this one. The location in the heart of Ann Arbor was so exquisite. Surrounded by beautiful trees, the Ann Arbor City Club is really one of a kind. It reminded me of a doll house in real life size! Devon and Jeff came all the way from South Carolina to get married in lovely Ann Arbor. The whole day I was also waiting for the African drums performance at the end of the night! What a way to end a perfect day!
Some showers were expected in the afternoon so the ceremony was initially moved back inside. But somehow the weather seemed to get better and I am so glad that Devon and Jeff chose to move it back (again) outside! And it did not rain!

Take a look at this amazing dress and the details!

There are no words to describe this magnificent hand-made Ketubah, so here is a shot of it:

Gorgeous place!

Look at how happy they are! The fear of rain is long forgotten…
Just married!

Time to celebrate!

With a fantastic DJ from Mike’s Staff Productions. Great job Steve! I Love your mic too!
And finally here is a really cool way to end a wedding day. African drums (by Ibrahim Aminou from West Africa) have so much energy and life in them and the sparklers made for an unforgettable night!
